As most of you may know, my friend, Carrie Boyce was pregnant most of her time working at our Bobbi Brown Counter in Salem, NH. She left for her maternity leave at the beginning of March. March 9th to be exact.
I am pleased to announce that on March 14th at 2:30 PM Sydney Elizabeth was born!
I speak with Carrie often and she's just loves being a Mom and has no desire to ever work again!
Also, I'm sure most of you are aware that my dear friend, Carrie will not be returning to Macy's but is going to return to teaching next year. She's very excited to see what next year leads and is hoping to teach 5th grade in New Hampshire.
Spring cleaning is always a chore, but I've got some helpful hints to make your Makeup Spring Cleaning simple and rewarding!
Collect all of your makeup items and put them in a pile. Remember, clean out your gym bag, totes, bathroom drawers and purses (including free gifts from cosmetic counters, even bags). Dump all of your cosmetics onto a table.
Overview your makeup. (For some, this will take longer than others, like myself!)
Foundation, Concealer, Powder, Eye Shadow, Powder and Cream Blush, Moisturizer, Sunscreen and Face Cream only has a shelf life of 2 years. Discard any makeup items over 2 years old.
Lipstick, Lip and Eye Pencils only have a shelf life of 12 to 18 Months. Discard any makeup items over 12 to 18 months old.
Mascara and Eye Cream only have a shelf life of 6 months. Discard any makeup items over 6 months old.
Now that you've discarded some items, you're ready to overview what's left on your table. Group your makeup into categories that fit your lifestyle.
Collections: Lips; lipstick, lip liners, lip gloss, lip balms. Eyes; Eye Cream, Corrector, Concealer, Cream Eye Shadow, Eye Shadow, Brow Color and Pencils, Eye Liner and Mascara. etc.
Or, group your items by style. (purse, gym, office, special occasions)
Now it's time to discard old gym bags, purses and cosmetic bags themselves. If they're still decent quality, but you're sick of looking at them, give them to friends or Goodwill. Throw away old makeup bags that cannot be given away and replace them with free gift cosmetic bags from your favorite cosmetic counters. Still have some gift bags left over? Save them. They'll come in handy.
I'm sure you might have a few more items left that are unwanted. These are items that you can give away to friends, or in my case, my sister. (She goes shopping in my bathroom closet) The only item I would not recommend giving away is Mascara if it's been used. Use one of your free gift bags to collect the items. it's like double prizes!
